Jordan Institution for Standards and Metrology topped twenty government institutions to win the highly prestigious King Abdullah II Award for Distinguished Governmental Performance and Transparency. The award shield was presented by His Majesty King Abdullah II in a ceremony held at the Royal Cultural Centre on 27 January 2004. This national award aims to encourage public-sector institutions to upgrade their performance and improve their services. In addition, the award scheme, through its  carefully chosen criteria, is intended to develop high-level leadership qualities, to improve management of human resources, to engender a wholesome institutional culture based on transparency, excellence and creativeness.
